Alkaline Water Ionizers - An Objective Perspective

The antioxidant water ionizers, shown below, are models we've tested over the years, offering successful results.

Water ionizers we've tried, range in price from $1195 to $2795 and up. The good news is that most will produce alkaline ionized water at the pH 9 level or higher. Higher pH ranges depend on these three factors:

1. Slower water flow.
2. Exposing water to higher amounts of electricity (wattage).
3. Surface area of electrolysis plates (cm², square centimeters).

The combination of these three conditions will provide a stronger ionizing effect.

Our experience suggests that it's better to drink a moderately high pH 9 level, over a longer period of time, verses drinking a super high pH10+ for less time. Research has shown positive health effects ranging from pH 8 to pH 10, at -200mv, ORP. Slow and steady wins the race!

To target a specific pH, the Athena, Melody and Venus water ionizers feature a "flow control lever" on the front of the unit.

Installing a Water Ionizer Is Easy

Water is diverted from the kitchen tap at full pressure to the water ionizer. However, the "flow control lever" fine tunes the flow rate to achieve the desired pH, offering repeatable results from the Melody and Venus water ionizers. The diverter valve allow for easy switching between normal faucet use, and producing ionized water.

The Athena, priced at $2195, includes an extra sediment filter. The Melody, priced at $1495, skips the sediment filter, but achieves a $700 savings over the Athena.

If you're looking for a lower priced unit, the Venus is a good option. The Venus includes a flow control lever, but isn't recommend for under sink installation, unlike the Melody and Athena units.

For under sink installations the Melody and Athena are the only water ionizers capable of continuous alkaline water production, even while entering an "automatic cleaning" mode. Most other ionizers will deliver acid water from the main delivery spout during their cleaning mode.

The Delphi priced at $2795 offers digital pH controls directly on it's faucet, but add a Faucet Kit with the Melody, then adjust it's "flow control lever" to set the pH, and save $1300.

The Orion water ionizer, priced at $1895, has features that are more automatic, sensing the source water's pH, targeting low, medium, and high ranges, without concern for matching exact pH levels.

For the best combination of features, price and long term track record, we often recommend the JP104 Melody water ionizer.
